Privacy Policy

This policy describes what this website collects and what happens to it. It covers this site only. It is not legal advice.

Information you send me

The contact form is the only place this site asks for information about you. If you use it, you choose what to share: your name, email address, business or organization, website, the services you are interested in, a description of what is happening, an optional budget range, and how you heard about me.

I use that information to read your message, reply to you, and decide whether we are a good fit to work together. I do not sell it and I do not add you to a marketing list from the contact form alone.

Sending the form also means it passes through and is stored by the services described below.

Please don’t send sensitive personal information through this form. It is built for a business conversation, not for financial account details, health information, government identification numbers, or anything similar.

How the form is processed and stored

The contact form is handled by Basin, a form-processing service. When you submit the form, what you wrote is sent to Basin, stored in my account there, and emailed to me. It is not only emailed. A copy sits in Basin until it is deleted.

On the plan this site uses, Basin keeps submissions for 30 days and then removes them. After that the copy I hold is whatever is in my email. Basin also receives the technical details that come with any web request, including your IP address, and uses them to filter spam.

Basin acts as a processor for me here, which means they handle the data to provide the service rather than for their own purposes. Their own privacy terms govern what they do with it, and those are published on their site.

Hosting and server logs

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Your request for a page reaches Cloudflare rather than a server of mine, so Cloudflare receives what any web request carries, including your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser and operating system, and the time of the request.

Cloudflare keeps that information briefly to serve the site, keep it online, and protect it from attacks and abuse. It is not something I read through, and I do not use it to build a picture of any individual visitor. Cloudflare's own privacy terms govern what they do with it.

Analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages people read. It works through a small script that reports measurements your browser already has, such as how quickly the page loaded.

It does not set cookies, does not store anything in your browser, and does not follow you from one website to another. Cloudflare states that it does not use your IP address, your browser's user agent, or anything similar to build a fingerprint that identifies you. Instead of recognising returning individuals, a visit is counted by checking whether the page you came from was on a different site.

What I can see is aggregated: how many page views a page received, which countries they came from in broad terms, which sites linked here, and roughly how fast pages loaded. I cannot see who you are, and I cannot follow one person's path through the site.

Like any request your browser makes, loading that script sends your IP address to Cloudflare as part of the connection itself. Cloudflare processes it to deliver the service and states that it is not used to identify or profile you.

Because no cookies or other browser storage are involved and nothing here is used to identify individuals, this site does not show a cookie consent banner. I am not a lawyer, and this is a description of what the site does rather than legal advice.

Cookies

This site does not set cookies of its own, does not use tracking cookies, and the analytics described above do not set any either.

Spam protection on the form

The contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that submissions come from a person rather than a script. Turnstile loads a small script from Cloudflare on that page only, and Cloudflare receives the information needed to make that check, including your IP address. Most visitors will not see anything; the widget only appears if Cloudflare decides a challenge is warranted.

The form also carries a hidden field that people never see and never fill in. If something completes it, the submission is stopped in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.

Fonts and other third-party requests

The typefaces on this site are served from this site itself rather than from a font network, so loading a page here does not send a request to Google or any other font host. The third-party requests this site does make are the Cloudflare Web Analytics script described above, Turnstile on the contact page, and the form submission itself. There are no embedded widgets, no advertising code, no session recording and no tracking pixels.

Links to other sites

Where this site links somewhere else, that destination has its own privacy practices and this policy does not cover them.

Children

This site is meant for businesses and organizations. It is not directed at children and I do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your information

If you have sent me something through this site and you want to know what I still have, want a copy of it, or want it deleted, write to me at kearstin@kearstinzumwalt.com and I will take care of it.

Changes

If what this site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top updates.
